Want To Earn $8,000 a Month In Your Network Marketing Business?

Silly question, you're probably thinking.  OF COURSE I want to earn $8,000 a month in my network marketing business.

Well, if you WANT it, why don't you HAVE it?  I'm not being contrary here, folks.  This is a serious question.

You won't have $8,000 a month (or $15,000 or $40,000 or $80,000) until you develop the skills to prospect, enroll, train and lead a huge team of like-minded people.  You won't likely learn the skills necessary to do all of that simply by reading a book or two, or by attending a seminar or two, or by listening to at Cd or two.  Nope, you'll earn those nice big checks when you have taken enough action, made enough mistakes, to master the skills.

To quote Art Jonak, "Most people who earn more than $10,000 a month provide more than $10,000 a month worth of value to their network marketing companies".  What did Zig Ziglar say... "You only get what you want by helping enough other people get what they want."  Same thing.  Provide value.

Does "providing value" mean pushing your business builders and telling them that they need to increase their sales and or volume because YOU need to make $8,000 this month??  NO!  It's not about you.  Take your focus off the money and put it on success... focus on the success of your Team.

Offer free conference calls during which you answer questions your Team has... bridge lines are free and using them are an easy way to create camaraderie and support within your organization.

Use your telephone bridge line to create "Focus on Success" type programs... use a weekly call to create an accountability program,  study a book a month and encourage discussions on the call.

Join an automated card company and create campaigns so that each of your down-line receives a "Welcome to the Team" card, a "Congratulations of Pin Level Increase", a motivational card once a month or so.

Another quote we all know and love... it's automatic, you don't even have to think about it... finish this sentence:  "People don't care how much you know until ____________________".         
That's right "....they know how much you care".  Provide Value.

How can you begin earning $8,000 a month (or a week!) in your network marketing business?  Invest in yourself and your Team.  Provide value.

Generation Y...It's Huge and It's Looking at Network Marketing

Years ago....but not tooo many years ago.... network marketing was primarily a business for the over-30 crowd.  Most of the people at the tops of major companies were over 40 and over 50.

There's a new kid in town!  It's the kids of us Baby Boomers.  They are in their 20's and 30's... and they are the future of network marketing.

This month's Networking Times is dedicated to Generation Y.  I suggest you run out and buy a copy right now.  It could be the best thing you'll do for your network marketing business.

In Networking Times, Journey Henkart, who wrote Cool Communication, says "Generation Y's are fast thinkers and good communicators.  They multi-task for maximum efficiency from their cell phones while on the go.  Journey believes Gen Y's are great candidates for network marketing, they just may not know it yet. Used to mass e-mails, blogs on-line communities and personal profiles, they are already building their networks and creating trust among their peers.

Dakota Rea, author of Generation Y: The New Baby Boomers, says that the massive size of Generation Y will give it incredible influence over future generations.  He says "If you market to this generation and gain their loyalty and trust, then your company's brand could be echoed and remembered for generations to come."  How could that happen?  Well, have you ever been on MySpace, FaceBook or YouTube?  If not, check them out!

It turns out that Generation Y is aware of all the business opportunities out there, and they are not looking for J.O.B.'s.  In order to take action, they simply need to be introduced to what you have to offer and what the options are.  Balancing of life and work is a fundamental need for this generation and they won't settle for a less than meaningful career.

HUMMM... does that sound like the Network Marketing Industry in a nutshell?

Pay attention to this generation if you are serious about building a strong, prosperous and long range network marketing business.  Learn all you can.  Networking Times is a great place to start.

Motivation is Not Essential to Building a Network Marketing Business

I bet you're thinking "Mickie, WHAT do you mean...motivation isn't essential to building my network marketing business?"

Think about it.

You don't have to be motivated to make calls, show your business presentation or follow up with your prospects.  You just have to have an action plan.  Once you begin taking action, the motivation will show up. Maybe later than sooner, but it will show up.

I can't count how many times I've headed out the door for my daily walk, not wanting at all to have gotten ready and opened the door to the cold, windy outside.  However, once I've started walking something cool happens.  I get motivated to walk.  Has that ever happened to you?

Motivation isn't necessary to build your network marketing business... but taking action is!

Create an action plan.   Maybe it's simply to make one new phone call a day.  Maybe it's to show your business presentation just one time a week.  Whatever your plan is, take action.

Make that call and the motivation will be there.  Maybe you'll even make one more!  Motivation isn't essential to build a strong and profitable network marketing business.... action IS!

Change Your Energy - Change Your Life!

It's a new year.  Are you ready to make lasting changes and positive improvements?

Will that New Year's Resolution do it? Probably not.

Will "positive thinking" do it?  Probably not.

If your life is on auto-pilot (as most of ours are!) then change will require actually re-programing your brain.

NO, I'm not kidding.  Our brains are hard-wired with little things called "Life Patterns".  These life patterns were taught to us by our parents, grandparents, teachers, other significant adults in our lives...and they were taught to us to keep us safe.  They were taught to us in the hopes that we'd avoid the pain or discomfort that our parents, grandparents, teachers, etc. suffered.

Finish this sentence:  "Don't run into the street______________________"

How about this one:  "If your friend jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge________________ "

You are able to complete those sentences without even thinking, right?  Well, that's how our hard wired "Life Patterns" work.  And, those are the little suckers that are keeping us from building large, strong, prosperous network marketing organizations.

Make 2008 the year you are still talking about in 2013!  Change your energy - Change your life!

What's Your Next Step in Building a Strong Network Marketing Business?

You may have been in the network marketing industry for two days, five months, one year or twenty years.  This is the start of a new beginning, no matter how long you've been building your business.

You may have two people in your organization, twenty thousand or more.  This is still the start of a new beginning.

It's January.  The beginning month

No matter how long you've been in network marketing, no matter how large or small your organization, I encourage you to take some time to consider where you are and where you want to be. Ask yourself "What do I need to do now?  Is there an idea I'm supposed to have?  What's my next step?"

I do subscribe to the old adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"  but I am also a believer in the concept of a better mouse trap.  There is always room for improvement.  There is someone in your company who is more successful, a stronger leader...someone you admire.

How about your next step being to ask that person for a little counsel time.  Pick his/her brain.  Ask what he/she is doing that's different from what you are doing.  Listen for the little things.  It's always the little things that make the difference.

People at the top know there is lots of room up there... and they know they didn't get there by themselves.  You know the story about the turtle on the fencepost... he didn't get there by himself!  Successful people, those people at the top of your company's pay plan or pin level, are willing to spend time giving your ideas... helping you determine your next step.

If you are really serious about increasing your network marketing income this year, determine your next step.  Get ideas in input from other successful networkers.  Formulate a plan and take consistent action.  Great plans won't do you one bit of good if they are written down and ignored.  Write them down and take action.  Even if your action is just one new phone call a day.  Do that consistently and you'll have talked to over 300 new people this year.

Give Up All Hope of a Better Past!

It's a brand new year.  Are you still letting that little voice in your head tell you how much you did not accomplish with your network marketing business last year?

Are you thinking about how much money you didn't make... and wish it had been more?  Are you counting up the number of people you sponsored/hosted and thinking it really wasn't enough?  Are you looking at your current Team and wishing there were more business builders among the numbers?

Forget about it!

The past is the past... and it isn't going to be any better.  The past is what it is.  You can't change it.  And, the past was three seconds ago... one second ago... one nano-second ago.  Think about it. Time clicks by... click, click, click.  Once it clicks, it's gone.  The past is not going to magically get better.

The future can be great, though.  YOU choose your future.  Make your future what you want it to be.  SEE yourself being, doing, having all that is imaginable.  Take the action steps to create the things you crave... more time with your family, scaling your job back to part-time, firing your boss, paying off all your credit cards, buying your dream car, taking a longer family vacation... whatever you desire is yours.  Make a plan, take consistent action.

My motto for this year is "Make 2008 the year we are still talking about in 2013!"  I like that motto because it has a long term vision.  What you do this year will effect where you are in 5 years.  What you did 5 years ago effects where you are today.  Don't get 5 years down the road and say "I wish I woulda..."  Be in a position to say, "I'm glad I did..."

Give up all hope of a better past.  Grab hold of a bright, healthy, prosperous future.  You are in charge of the vision.  Make it great!

Goals and Fantasies: Don't Confuse The Two

As I was reading this morning I was Led to an awesome chapter titled "Take Charge of Your Future",written by Patricia Fripp.

These are excellent thoughts to take with us into the New Year:

"I think planning is focusing on the preferable future rather than the probable future that comes about if you don't plan."

"I encourage you to work backward.  It's amazing how clear what you do want will appear. 

If you looked exactly the way you do right now in one year's time, would you celebrate?  If not, what are you going to do?  If the quality of your relationships is exactly the same, in and out of business, in one year's time, would that be marvelous?  If not, what communication skills are you going to have to learn and/or use? 

What time are you going to have to take with the people you think are important to you?  If your career took the same natural progression as it's taking right now,is that wonderful?  If not, what are you going to have to do? What are you going to have to learn? What will you do the change the future??"

Dru Scott, who wrote "How to Put More Time In Your Life", told Patricia Fripp  "All I do actively on a daily basis is look after each area of my life.  Every day I do something nice for a friend. I drop a note of appreciation or call and say hello.  Every day I do something nice for me, even if it's only soaking in a bubble bath for 15 minutes without feeling guilty.  Every day I do something for my mind by reading or listening to Cds."

Speaker Danny Cox says the difference between a goal and a fantasy is that you know something that you can do tomorrow to get closer to a goal.  A fantasy is something you just sit in the bubble bath and enjoy.  There's an important place in life for
both goals and fantasies but don't confuse the two."

Ken Blanchard, author of "The One Minute Manager" says: If you have a commitment to your goal you never ask yourself the questions, "Do I feel like doing it today?  Am I in the mood?" or "Are the stars aligned?"

Are you confusing fantasy with goals?  Set some specific goal strategies and make next year the best year of your life...

Make 2008 a year to be happily remembered!!
